The wait won’t be long as Lexus Philippines is almost ready to unveil the latest version of its compact sports sedan, the 2021 Lexus IS. But before then, they’ve just confirmed that it’ll come in both V6 and hybrid flavors.
One of the first Lexus production cars to be honed at Toyota’s very own Nürburgring Nordschleife—the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama Test Track, the 2021 Lexus IS went through countless loops of the course that simulated every possible kind of on-road scenario in the world. Through elevation changes, various bank angles, and corner radius, every aspect of the IS has been finely tuned.
This includes the engine. For the 2021 Lexus IS, it’s coming into the country in two flavors: the IS F Sport with its 300-horsepower, 380 Nm normally-aspirated V6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic, and the IS 300h with its 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid unit mated to an E-CVT transmission.
Also confirmed for the 2021 Lexus IS is the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 or LSS+2. This means that the Lexus IS comes with driver assist features such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Automatic High Beam. The F Sport model, meanwhile adds Pre-Collision system which detects oncoming vehicles and pedestrians, even when turning left or right at intersections.
The 2021 Lexus IS debuts for the Philippine market on November 21, 2020.
