3M Philippines Brings in Car Tint That Works Well with RFIDs

3M Philippines, distributed by TSL Marketing, launches the new 3M Ceramic IR Series tint. It heeds the call for an automotive window tint that provides up to 99 percent UV protection while guaranteeing zero electronic interference with any electronic or mobile device.

With the move to full contactless payment at major expressways in full swing, some motorists have learned the hard way that their current car tint (typically those imbued with metallic flakes or elements) creates interference with one or both of the RFID systems in operation. It’s come to a point where installers will refuse to install an RFID on cars equipped with these tints.

The new 3M Ceramic IR series window tint solves that problem. With its metal-free design, it guarantees no electronic or mobile phone interference, including the recently-launched 5G.

Aside from playing well with modern electronics, the 3M Ceramic IR series window tint builds on the American brand’s 50-year experience on sun control films and tints. It reduces up to 93 percent of all glare from blinding sunlight with its low visible light reflectivity enabling drivers to see better and stay concentrated more on driving, while its neutral color and no-mirror appearance enhances nighttime visibility.

As its name implies, the 3M Ceramic IR tint uses nano-ceramic tint rather than traditional metals or dyes. With that, it’s able to reject up to 63 percent of total solar energy, and offers up to 95 percent infrared rejection allowing vehicle occupants to stay cool. It also blocks 99.9 percent of UV light—equivalent to wearing SPF 1000+ sunblock. It does so well that it’s recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective UV protectant.

The new nano-ceramic construction also allows the new 3M Ceramic IR tint to be more durable—designed to last and remain virtually maintenance-free. In fact, it offers a limited lifetime warranty, one of the most comprehensive in the window film market.

The 3M Ceramic IR tint is available locally in three grades: IR 5, IR 15, and IR 35. At its darkest which is IR 5, it offers 63 percent solar energy rejection, 95 percent infrared rejection and 93 percent glare reduction, while at its lightest, the IR 35, it offers 52 percent solar energy rejection, 85 percent infrared rejection, and 49 percent glare reduction.

It will be available starting January 2021 at leading car accessories shops and select dealer partners. It will be positioned between the Color Stable (CS) and top-the-line Crystalline.
