Ford, Subaru May Soon Face Their Own Fuel Pump Recalls

Brace yourselves for more recalls surrounding Denso fuel pumps. In what could be another “Takata-level” recall, the Japanese parts supplier is adding more than 1.5 million units to its growing list of fuel pumps that may stop working altogether.

The problem which has so far plagued Honda, Mitsubishi, Toyota (including Lexus), and Mazda locally may affect Ford and Subaru models as well.

In documents released by Denso, they are adding fuel pump units produced between June 26, 2017 to June 28, 2019 to the recall.

According to Denso, the impellers in these fuel pumps may swell due to the wrong resin density used. This, combined with the “lower than minimum” strength of the impellers may cause the fuel pumps to stop working altogether, or reduce its operability.

  1. They better start the recalls, fuel pump on my XV seems to have failed. Engine just died and would not start again, engine cranks but would not continue to start.
