Hyundai Just Unveiled the 290-horsepower 2021 Sonata N Line

Hyundai is continuing its transformation to a brand that desires dynamic performance with the first-ever N Line treatment for its executive sedan, the 2021 Sonata.

Based on the new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design identity, Sonata N Line’s low and wide exterior styling is heighted by new unique Parametric Jewel grille treatment, wide air intakes, and arrow-shaped air curtains. At the back, it has a high-gloss black lip spoiler, chrome dual twin exhaust, and a unique rear diffuser.

Interior design elements, including a leather-wrapped perforated N steering wheel with metallic spokes, red-stitched sports seats with leather bolsters, gearshift with metal accents and leather inserts and alloy pedals, complement Sonata N Line’s sporty exterior.

Under the hood, the 2021 Sonata N Line debuts a new turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. The Smartstream 2.5 GDi does 290 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque making it the most powerful Sonata ever. This engine is mated to an 8-speed wet-type dual clutch made specifically for N vehicles.

In addition to its more powerful engine, Hyundai engineers also worked to improve its grip with unique suspension tuning courtesy of firmer bushings, higher spring rates, larger front and rear sway bars, and revised shock absorbers. It also gets larger front and rear brake calipers for improved stopping power.

Other Hyundai N features include rev-matching, driver selectable modes, launch control, and even an active sound system.

Sadly, Hyundai Philippines hasn’t given any indication on whether they’ll be open to bringing back the Sonata, let alone more N models.
