With the Lexus LC already looking like a road-going aircraft, it’s surprising it look them this long to come up with an aviation-themed special edition car. Named the Lexus LC Aviation, it’s a limited-edition that’ll be released in Japan early next year.
Inspired by aircrafts, particularly its aerodynamics, the Lexus LC Aviation gains a new carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) rear wing exclusive to this special edition model. According to the carmaker, the rear wing is functional—generating downforce at speed. More than that, the design is inspired by the winglet at the end of the main wing of an aircraft. The LC Aviation also has a CFRP roof.
Aside from the rear wing, the LC Aviation also gains special split five-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels, a black painted Spindle Grille and frame, as well as darkened LED head- and taillights. Inside, it has an Alcantara steering wheel and shift knob, door trim, and console box as well as special scuff plates made of CFRP.
Limited to just 70 units in Japan, the LC Aviation is offered in both V8 and V6 hybrid flavors. While mechanically unchanged from the regular LC it does get a standard Torsen limited slip differential.
No word if Lexus will offer the LC Aviation in other markets.
