SsangYong PH Brings Back Gas-Powered Tivoli Sub-compact SUV for Just P 970k (w/ Specs)

Yet another sub-million sub-compact SUV joins the fray. After missing for the 2020 model year, SsangYong Philippines announces the return of the gas variant of its Tivoli for 2021.

Slotting in between the range-topping Tivoli 1.6-liter Diesel Premium and the 1.6-liter Diesel Sport in specifications and features, the new gasoline engine offering in the SsangYong Tivoli line-up caters to buyers who want a more familiar driving experience.

The 2021 Tivoli Gas Sport’s 1.6-liter e-XDGi160 gasoline motor makes 128 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque. Moreover, it’s mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Along with the new engine, the Tivoli also sports a new eye-catching design including 18-inch wheels similar to the Tivoli Diesel Premium variant. In addition, the Tivoli still offers class-leading dimensions giving owners more cargo and people-carrying room for their daily needs.

“The new SsangYong Tivoli line-up is our answer to the growing needs of many car buyers for reasonably priced, feature-rich alternatives in the growing subcompact crossover space,” says Japheth Castillo, president of SsangYong Philippines. “Though we pride ourselves with our extensive diesel-engine crossover and SUV lineup, we believe there is still a large demand for gasoline-engined vehicles, especially when they come with eye-catching design aesthetics like the Tivoli Gas Sport.” Castillo adds, “With this latest Tivoli offering, we are confident that crossover shoppers will see the true value and benefits that the SsangYong lineup has to offer.”

To recall, the SsangYong Tivoli sports the longest wheelbase in its class: 2,600 mm. This affords it more legroom and cargo space. In addition, it stands tall with 167 mm of ground clearance.

Inside, it has a leather steering wheel with audio and trip controls, a color-adjustable instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with CarPlay and Android Auto—features previously offered only on the Tivoli Diesel Premium.

The gasoline-powered 2021 Tivoli Sport also comes with dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rearview camera. It also has a 3-year free preventive maintenance service coverage as well as a 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

With its special introductory offering of just P 970,000 (a P 150,000 discount from its actual suggested retail price), the 2021 SsangYong Tivoli Gas Sport is set to rank high on crossover buyers’ shopping list as it rolls out this month at all authorized dealerships.

  2. Ssangyong motor is in trouble again. They have good cars but unfortunately it's distributor doesn't know how to market it's vehicles. It's expensive. And the invasion of Chinese cars it will be added burden to it's survival in the local market. Hoping they can bounce back.
