Just a week after its global debut in Thailand, the refreshed Ford Everest has made its way to other markets. The next recipient is Australia, where the new mesh grille is now standard on what they officially call the, and we’re not making this up, the 2021.25 Ford Everest.
Down Under, the Everest gets a new chrome grille with a gray mesh pattern. However, the “EVEREST” lettering is, thankfully, limited to just the Titanium variant.
Most intriguing about their refreshed Everest though is a new limited-edition variant called the Everest BaseCamp.
The Everest BaseCamp matches the Everest’s outstanding off-road capabilities with a bold, rugged new look. Designed to make discovering the great outdoors easier, this limited 450-unit run adds a 76-mm diameter black nudge bar, a Ford licensed LED light bar, snorkel, black roof-mounted carry bars, Rhino Rack Pioneer roof platform, Rhino Rack Sunseeker awning, and a 3,100-kilogram rear tow bar.
Setting it apart from other Everests, the Everest Basecamp gets special decals on both front doors and gray-painted exterior highlights such as the grille, front and rear skid pads, fender vents, and wheels.
The Everest Basecamp is available in both the 3.2-liter inline-5 making 200 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque, or the bi-turbo 2.0-liter inline-4 making 213 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Naturally, this version is purely 4WD only.
It also comes with a full suite of driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keeping aid, automatic high-beam, rear view camera, and more.
As for the price, the Everest Basecamp is priced around AUD$ 2,200 (P 77,000~) more than the Trend model on which it’s based on.
