Skyway Stage 3 Open to Motorists Starting December 29, 2020

San Miguel Corporation promised, and they delivered. Despite delays due to rains and a collapsing girder, the Skyway Stage 3 will be partially open to the public starting Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

The 18-kilometer stretch of the much-awaited Skyway Stage 3 project will cut travel time from SLEX to NLEX to just 20 minutes, compared to the current three hours. Magallanes to Balintawak will only take about 15 minutes, Balintawak to NAIA also only 15 minutes, and Valenzuela to Makati in just 10 minutes.

Motorists will be able to use up to four lanes of Skyway 3. Once it is fully completed by Thursday, January 14, 2021, all seven lanes may be used.

And as previously promised by San Miguel Corporation’s president and COO Ramon S. Ang, the new portion of Skyway is free to all motorists for one (1) month.

“We are glad to finally welcome motorists, even on a limited capacity, starting December 29. While this is only a partial opening, given the scale and importance of this project, this is a very significant development,” Ang said.

Together with Skyway 1, 2, and Skyway extension which have a total of 20 kilometers, Skyway 3 extends the entire Skyway system to 38 kilometers. With the completion next year of the Skyway Extension project at the southern end, from Susanna Heights to Alabang, the entire Skyway will have 36 access points on both sides, from end-to-end.
