Based on the same platform as JAC’s other pickup truck, the T6, the T8 is meant for lifestyle-oriented buyers who want not just the flexibility and hauling capability of a workhorse, but the functionality and luxury of an SUV.

The 2021 JAC T8 is designed to be a “Fortress on the Road,” and with that has an overly aggressive front-end. The massive grille, adorned with the letters, “JAC” is partnered with projector-type HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, and front fog lamps. The rear features dual C-shaped LED taillights and rear fog lamps. Better yet, would-be customers need not spend on aftermarket accessories as it comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a bed liner, fender flares, side step board, and a tow hitch as standard.

Inside, the T8 comes with brown leather seats, with the material also found on the dashboard and door panels. An 8-inch infotainment system and multi-function steering wheel make for an upscale look and feel.

Building on JAC’s 55-year history in building heavy-duty commercial vehicles, the T8 sports a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine with 136 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. The sole transmission is a 6-speed manual.

As with other pickup trucks in the market, the T8 features a front independent double wishbone suspension and rear leaf springs. But setting this apart from other choices in the market, the top-of-the-line Ultimate sports rear disc brakes—a rarity. Both variants though have 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60R18 tires as standard.

Further separating itself from other pickup trucks is the high level of technologies found such as electronic stability control which incorporates hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, and 360-degree view camera. For convenience, it also has automatic headlights, power folding side mirrors, and parking sensors all around.

The 2021 JAC T8 is available in two variants. The entry-level 4x2 Luxury is priced at P 928,000, while the top-of-the-line 4x2 Ultimate is priced at P 998,000.
