Toyota Motor PH Recalling Hilux Pickup Trucks Due to Faulty Braking System

Toyota Motor Philippines is announcing a recall for selected 2018 Hilux models surrounding its brake system.

The recall (aka Special Service Campaign) surrounds 2018 Hilux models produced June 21, 2018 to December 20, 2018. A total of 12,016 units are affected.

The Japanese carmaker says that the piston strength in the brake booster could degrade due to improper molding of the resin piston. If this occurs, the piston may break by operating the brake pedal repeatedly. At the worst case, this may result to the loss of braking assist that could increase the vehicle’s stopping distance.

Toyota Motor Philippines will inspect, and replace the brake booster with a new one if necessary. This will be done at no cost to Hilux owners.

The company is also preparing replacement parts, and will notify concerned customers through official notification letters. You can check out if your Hilux is affected through this VIN Number Checker.
