Since the Chery Auto brand was relaunched under the distributorship of United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) in November 2019, a strong and accessible dealer network has been one of the brand’s top priorities. Just three months after the brand launch and in just the first month of 2020, Chery Auto Philippines had begun sales operations throughout Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“To jumpstart the growth of Chery Auto Philippines, we had no less than 15 new dealerships across the country just two months after the brand launch, welcoming many new Chery customers nationwide,” said UAAGI President Rommel Sytin.
By the end of 2020, the total number of Chery dealers nationwide reached 17, all of which offer test drives of the full Chery model range. The test drives comply with all COVID-19-related safety protocols.
For Metro Manila, Chery opened dealerships in North EDSA and along Quezon Avenue in QC; in Pasig City, in Pasong Tamo in Makati; and in Alabang.
Chery also opened dealerships in Luzon: Cainta, Rizal; Marilao, Bulacan; Bauang, La Union; Bacoor, Cavite; GMA Cavite; and Camarines Sur.
Chery is also present down south through its dealerships in Iloilo; Bacolod; Talisay, Cebu; General Santos; Davao City; and Cagayan De Oro.
For 2021, the growth continues as Chery will be opening new dealerships in Commonwealth Ave., Fairview; Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Lipa, Batangas; and Bacolor, Pampanga. Chery Auto Philippines plans to establish a total of 25 dealerships across the country within the next two to three years.
“The trust of our dealer partners is an important part of Chery Auto Philippines’ continuous initiative to expand the dealer network not just in the metro, but also in previously untapped urban and rural markets,” declared Sytin.
Underscoring the new dealers’ confidence in the Chery brand is the fact that none of the dealerships are new to the business. All current Chery dealers are multi-brand operations and, combined, have over 50 years of automotive experience and employ more than 1,000 employees under the Chery brand. These multi-brand dealers include some of the most illustrious and experienced dealership groups and principals in the automotive industry.
“The China auto industry has arrived. They have mastered automotive technology and design and elevated it to world-class levels. With Chery, we are confident—we are convinced—that all the ingredients are in place. The timing is right,” shared one of the top dealer principals in the Philippines, Willy Tee Ten, who heads Chery GMA Cavite and Chery Davao City.
The rapid acceptance of Chery by multi-brand dealerships is a testament to their trust and confidence in this resurgent Chinese brand and its modern, stylish, fully equipped, and highly affordable crossover models, as well as the growth potential of the Chery brand and the very capable team at UAAGI behind it.
“The return of the Chery brand has been remarkable and easier to handle because of the trust we have for UAAGI. Having driven the Tiggo models, we were able to see and feel how credible the brand will be this time. These crossovers offer great value for money, fun, character and charisma,” shared the young dealer principals of Chery La Union.
Each Chery dealership will be fully equipped to amplify the aftersales offerings of Chery Auto Philippines, including parts, service, customer relations, and financing programs. This will ensure easier access to these stylish, value-packed crossovers.
“With the support and potential of the brand and the team behind it, I believe that Chery is really going places. As a huge investment in the pipeline, the return of Chery and its dealer expansion will certainly generate more jobs in the future,” noted Chery Cagayan De Oro Dealer Principal Roger Chiu.
Sytin added, “I am buoyed by the trust and commitment of my dealer partners. We will continue to be aggressive in terms of providing fun, fresh, and practical driving experiences, as well as bringing state-of-the-art dealerships closer to our customers.”
