Hyundai will release its own take on fast grocery-getters with its first-ever high-performance SUV: the 2021 Kona N. Set for a full unveil in the coming weeks, the automaker just released its basic specifications.
The 2021 Kona N will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine which Hyundai says “delivers a power and nimble driving experience.” It’s mated to Hyundai N’s high-performance wet-type 8-speed dual clutch transmission (N DCT).
Though they’ve yet to officially reveal final horsepower and torque figures, if it’s the same one under the i30 N, it makes 280 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque. Unlike the hot hatch though, power will likely be routed to all four wheels via an all-wheel drive system.
More than just raw power, the Kona N will also come with other features such as launch control and an “exciting sound experience.”
The Kona, albeit the non-N version is one of four all-new Hyundai vehicles confirmed to arrive in the Philippines this year.
