While Nissan took great lengths to cover up the front and rear fascia, it’s very clear that this is their next-generation sub-compact sedan. This is evident in the shape of the headlights, taillights, and even the positioning of the side view mirrors. Look closer, and the 2021 Almera’s V-motion grille is evident even under all that camouflage.

So far, Nissan has been mum about the exact specifications of the Philippine-spec Almera, but reader Philip Anthony Ipapo says he saw two units being driven on EDSA. Based on the photos he sent, one looks to be a base model with steel wheels and fender-mounted indicators, while the other is a top-trim model with the very same wheel designs seen in the Thailand model.

If the Philippines follows Thailand and Malaysia’s lead, the all-new Almera will be powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. This HRA0 engine makes 100 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. This makes it a direct replacement for the current model’s 1.5-liter 4-cylinder motor. The gearbox is the Nissan Xtronic CVT.

With the current-generation model formally ending its production in Sta. Rosa in March, it’s very likely that the all-new Almera will bow in sometime after that. And since this is a very important model for Nissan, they’ll probably use this opportunity to make things look great in their books. Since Nissan’s fiscal year starts April, they’ll make full use of this to bump up their sales figure for 2021.
