The Hyundai Elantra is the North American Car of the Year

Hyundai and Ford win big at the North American Car, Utility, and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) with the Elantra, Mustang Mach-E, and F-150 winning their respective categories.

Now in their 28th year, the NACTOY awards are selected through a series of three separate votes by a diverse jury of automotive journalists from numerous outlets in the United States and Canada. Jurors evaluate the finalists based on segment leadership, innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, and value for money. Because of the jurors’ independence, these awards are among the most respected in the industry.

The three vehicles bested over 40 other vehicles to capture their wins.

This is the second time the Hyundai Elantra has won Car of the Year (2012). Only two cars have won the award more than once (Chevrolet Corvette and Honda Civic), and this marks Hyundai’s third Car of the Year category win.

Meanwhile, with the Mustang Mach-E and F-150’s win as the Utility and Truck of the Year, it marks the first time since 2014 that the same brand has won multiple North American vehicle of the year awards in the same year.
