Honda's Now Selling the Civic Type R's Engine for P433k

Honda is offering the Civic Type R’s K20C1 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC engine as a complete crate engine package for the first time. The clincher is, it’s available in very limited numbers.

In previous years, this 306-horsepower engine was made available only with the long block, alternator, turbo, and starter motor.

Now, with the Controls Package, the same crate motor comes with the ECU, engine swap harness, and accelerator pedal. The Controls Package was only previously available to Honda Racing Line members and race teams, but now, anyone can buy one.

Honda says they’ll only be making 93 of these sets available to the public in the U.S., and the cost is USD 9,000 (~ P 433,000).

  1. So, for example, you’re going to replace this engine with the normal one in your Civic, all in all, how much would it cost you?

    1. The engine alone is already P 433k...if we were to include the transmission, you're looking at something north of half a million pesos (at least).

    2. Not bad for those who want to convert their ordinary Civic to a Type R beast. To those who own the 10th-gen Civic, they can probably still save about about a million pesos after the engine swap and everything else.

  2. Can you pair K20C1 engine with Automatic transmission or CVT?
