After scoring a near-perfect score in Adult Occupancy Protection (AOP) at the Euro NCAP, recognized as a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the US, and being recognized by the Kids Design Council in Japan for its Driver Attention Alert system, the CX-30 has done it again—this time being awarded as the safest SUV at the first-ever RACV Safest Car Awards.
Australia’s RACV is similar to the Philippine’s AAP, and operates out of Victoria in Australia offering insurance and roadside assistance among other products. This year, the RACV awarded the safest cars in Victoria so that customers could be more informed when it comes to choosing a vehicle that will help protect the drivers, the passengers, and of course, the community in general.
Using data from the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), and their own data based on insurance claims, the Mazda CX-30 has been chosen as the safest SUV under the AUD 35,000 range (~P 1.29 million).
The RACV was impressed by the CX-30 safety equipment which, in their words, “raises the benchmark for small SUV safety and inspires confident, reassured driving and comfort for all passengers.”
The CX-30 boasts of the most comprehensive standard safety equipment in the segment with safety features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Departure Warning, all helping CX-30 achieve the top spot.
Other winners are the Land Rover Defender as the safest SUV above AUD 35,000; the Toyota Yaris as the safest car under AUD 30,000 (~P 1.11 million); and the Mercedes-Benz CLA as the safest car above AUD 30,000.
