All-New 2021 Isuzu D-MAX Targets 15 Percent Market Share of Pickup Segment

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) is setting an ambitious goal for its all-new 2021 D-MAX pickup truck.

With its bold, emotional design and wide array of smart features, the country’s number one commercial vehicle brand is targeting a 15 percent market share of the pickup truck market by the end of this year. Currently, they have an 8 percent market share. This goal was revealed by IPC Vice President for Sales, Yasuhiko Oyama.

According to Oyama-san, they expect 70 percent of D-MAX sales to be driven by lifestyle-oriented derivatives. Available in both 4x2 and 4x4 variants, and in both manual and automatic transmission flavors, these models are all powered by the new 190-horsepower, 450 Nm of torque 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX engine. He expects fleet or workhorse variants, powered by an improved RZ4E engine to make up the remaining 30 percent.

Part of IPC’s bullish attitude towards the all-new D-MAX’s sales performance is down to its pricing. Despite the DTI safeguard tariff and immense bump in equipment level, they have kept its pricing close to its predecessor. The RZ4E variants are priced from P 857,000 to P 1,309,000, while the 4JJ3-TCX variants are priced from P 1,288,000 to P 1,825,000. These prices will kept for at least the next 90 days as part of their introductory price offer.

The all-new model is expected to continue the nameplate’s strong showing. Last year, despite the challenging economic conditions, the D-MAX considers 2020 one of its best years thanks to the introduction of the off-road ready Boondock variant, as well as hefty cash discounts.
