The renaming of its Starex model to the Staria is quite significant because “Staria” is meant to combine the words, “Star” and “Ria”—a nod to the large MPV’s “future-oriented product values with a streamlined design.”

Hyundai is set to reveal more details in the coming weeks, but they did show quite a couple with these in the teaser photos including its defining design characteristic: the one curve gesture silhouette.

Shown as the Staria Premium—the highest trim variant of the Staria, it has a spaceship-like exterior with its long, horizontal DRL and separate headlights positioned underneath. It also features panoramic windows and a lower belt line, underscoring the openness of the interior. It will also feature more premium features, and variant exclusive finishes for a more luxurious look and feel, says the carmaker.

According to SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Hyundai Design, “The Staria is Hyundai’s new people mover line-up that opens up a new mobility era. It will provide a completely new experience and value proposition for customers through its unprecedented design features.”

The all-new Hyundai Starex (aka Staria) is one of the four models promised to arrive by the end of 2021 by Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., the exclusive distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country.
