Isuzu, Hino, and Toyota have entered into a partnership surrounding the development of future commercial vehicles.
The three Japanese vehicle brands have formed the Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies Corporation which will be 80 percent owned by Toyota, 10 percent by Isuzu, and 10 percent by Hino.
This new company will develop a wide array of technologies such as battery electric and fuel cell electric powertrains for commercial vehicles as well as platforms and even autonomous driving technologies.
Toyota will also take a 4.6 percent stake in Isuzu. This was after Toyota and Isuzu dissolved a previous 12-year capital tie-up that focused on small displacement diesel engines.
Isuzu, Hino, and Toyota also plan to link their vehicle logistics solutions to build a platform to help improve commercial vehicle efficiencies.
