After showing it off as a design prototype, Honda has finally shown what the production 2022 Civic looks like, and here’s your first look.
Set for a global unveil on April 28 in the U.S., the production 11th generation Civic looks pretty close to the design prototype. Shown in the U.S. Touring trim (similar to the ASEAN market RS), the most visible change is to the front bumper which has become more conservative in design and execution.
According to Honda, the goal for the all-new Civic is to go for a sporty, yet simpler design language—something that “advances its essential values of uncluttered design, simple ergonomics, and exceptional visibility.” If that’s the case, it’s pretty much job done; although it’s imaginable that some will call it conservative.
The Civic Sedan is also confirmed to spawn a hatchback derivative which will arrive a few months after the traditional four-door makes its debut.
Honda hasn’t revealed any interior photos of the all-new Civic yet, but they have confirmed that it’ll get the same flat, horizontal dash layout seen in the Accord and City, an all-new digital gauge cluster, a 9-inch tablet-style touchscreen, and a honeycomb finish which will hide the air vents.
In terms of powertrain, again, Honda has remained mum but several leaks have pointed out that at least the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo will continue on.
With camouflaged prototypes already running in Thailand, the won’t be long for the 2022 Civic to reach the ASEAN market. In fact, it is one of the two models (the other being the City Hatchback) confirmed by Honda Cars Philippines president Masahiko Nakamura to arrive in local showrooms within the year.
the previous one was an overstyled mess while the new design is a snorefest
