Ford is continuing to capitalize on the global popularity of its Ranger pickup truck by introducing two new limited-edition models.
Fresh from its track-inspired Ranger MS-RT, Ford has just come up with the Ranger Stormtrak and Ranger Wolftrak for the European market.
The Ranger Stormtrak is based off the Ranger Wildtrak but adds more comfort features and unique finishes.
The Rapid Red paint (it can be ordered in Frozen White or Blue Lightning though) is unique to the Ranger Stormtrak, and this is complemented by the added underbody protection. It also gets hood and side decals as well as three-dimensional badging, a black rear bumper, and a sports hoop. Like the refreshed Ranger Wildtrak, the Ranger Stormtrak also gets the new Power Roller Shutter that provides added cargo security.
Inside, the Ranger Stormtrak has embroidered logos on its leather seats, tinted graphite interior surfaces, and red stitching.
Powering the Ranger Stormtrak is Ford’s twin-turbo 2.0-liter engine. It makes 213 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque mated to a 10-speed automatic. A standard selectable four-wheel drive system offers confident off-road performance.
Meanwhile, for those who want something a bit more no-nonsense, there’s the Ranger Wolftrak.
The Ranger Wolftrak takes the Ranger XLT but adds a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque mated to either 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. Built for outdoor pursuits, it comes with a selectable four-wheel drive system with an electronically-locking rear differential and all-terrain tires.
Setting the Ranger Wolftrak apart from the XLT, it comes in the imposing Conquer Gray paintjob complementing its matte black grille, underbody protection, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It also has a long-leg tubular sports bar, plastic molded side steps, and darkened badges.
Inside, the Ranger Wolftrak sports a matte black instrument cluster and door trims and all-weather floor mats.
The Ford Ranger remains Europe’s best-selling pickup truck, setting a record 34.9 percent annual share segment in Europe. In the U.K. alone, the Ranger accounted for 40 percent market share for the first quarter of 2021, with more than 5,000 sold year-to-date.
