2022 Honda Civic Previewed For ASEAN Market

That did not take long. Just months after its launch in the U.S. market, the all-new 11th generation Honda Civic is ready to launch in ASEAN. And the first market to get it might be…Singapore.

This is rather surprising since it’s typically Thailand that gets the first crack at new models in ASEAN, unless Honda Singapore jumped the gun too quickly by opening a pre-registration page on the new model.

The official preview photo from Honda Singapore (aka Kah Motor) shows that the ASEAN version of the Civic doesn’t stray too much from its North American counterpart. With that, expect the same toned-down styling down to the Accord-like lines.

It is also very clear from the teaser photo that the Honda Civic will be made available with the Honda SENSING driver assist technology. And with the ASEAN NCAP pushing to make AEB or Autonomous Emergency Braking standard to net a five-star safety rating, this might become standard across the line-up even for the Philippine market (the current 10th generation Civic does not offer Honda SENSING).

Honda Singapore hasn’t revealed any powertrain details yet, but given that they’re the first market to get the all-new Civic in ASEAN, it will serve as a good indication as to which engines the rest of the region will get.

For reference, the current Civic (10th generation) being offered in Singapore is sold with a 1.6-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine with 125 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, in the U.S., it’s offered with either a 2.0-liter normally-aspirated 4-cylinder or a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo 4-cylinder with 180 horsepower.

For the Philippine market, HCPI previously confirmed that the all-new Civic will make its debut also in 2021.
