2022 Subaru Ascent Goes Dark

The Subaru Ascent (aka the Philippine market Evoltis) has officially gone dark with the release of the 2022 Ascent Onyx Edition.

Slotting between the Premium and the Limited trims (the Philippines gets the highest spec Touring trim though), the Ascent Onyx Edition goes for a more youthful audience.

Outside, it drops the chrome for black-finish exterior details on the grille, molding, and 20-inch wheels. The chrome door handles have also been swapped for body-colored ones too.

Inside, the seats are wrapped in Subaru’s unique StarTex water-repellant material for durability and easy clean-up.

The Onyx Edition also gets Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB), a hands-free power tailgate, heated steering wheel, and keyless access with push-button start. Owners can also spec it with a panoramic moonroof and a retractable cargo cover.

While the addition of the Onyx Edition is the headline for the Ascent this 2022, new across all trims is that the Subaru EyeSight now gets lane centering with its adaptive cruise control system.

Mechanically, the Ascent remains unchanged for 2022. It continues with its turbocharged 2.4-liter Flat-4 making 260 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque mated to a high torque Lineartronic CVT with an 8-speed manual mode and paddle shifters.
