The BMW i4 M50 packs two electric motors—one in the front and one at the back giving it standard all-wheel drive. The front packs 258 horsepower, while at the rear is 312 horsepower. Together, they’ll crank out a maximum of 544 horsepower. And with its 795 Nm of torque, this single-speed Gran Coupe can do the century-mark sprint in 3.9 seconds. Top speed? An electronically limited 225 km/h. It will, if you’re into it, emit sound composed by Hans Zimmer. 

Aside from more grunt, because of the two-motor set-up, the i4 M50 benefits from better weight distribution (48/52). It also gets adaptive dampers with tuned springs, self-leveling rear air suspension, additional tower brace, and roll bars. It will also offer mixed tire sizes as standard.

Range-wise, the i4 M50 shares the i4’s 83.9-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. According to BMW, it can do 510 kilometers in a single charge.

Setting the i4 M50 apart is its unique grille work and bumpers with additional side intakes for brake cooling at the front, and an integrated diffuser at the back. It also gets a rear spoiler. Inside, it gets the typical M Performance treatment with its all-black aesthetic, and aluminum pedals. Tech appointments are similar to the regular i4, and for that it gets a 12.3-inch meter panel joined with a 14.9-inch infotainment display.

Both the regular i4 (known officially as the i4 eDrive40) and the i4 M50 are launching in November of this year in select markets.
