For those who want the ultimate performance SUV, Porsche has just released an even more powerful, even faster version of its Cayenne: the Cayenne Turbo GT.
Based on the Cayenne Turbo coupe (the slanty roof version of Porsche’s SUV), it churns out numbers very close to a closely related hyper SUV—the Lamborghini Urus. The Cayenne Turbo GT churns out 640 horsepower (up 90 horsepower) and 850 Nm of torque (up 80 Nm) from its 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8. With that, the century sprint is reduced to 3.3 seconds (0.6 seconds less) and top speed is now up to 300 km/h (up 14 km/h).
Of course, in typical Porsche fashion, grunt isn’t the only thing they added here. The Cayenne Turbo GT’s various chassis systems have been tweaked (lower ride height, stiffened platform) and together with high-performance tires developed specially for this model and standard composite ceramic brakes, it laps the 20.832-kilometer Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7 minutes 38.9 seconds—a new record.
Setting the Cayenne Turbo GT apart include its model-specific front apron, enlarged side cooling air intakes, carbon fiber side plates fitted to the larger roof spoiler, and a carbon diffuser panel. It also runs on 22-inch GT Design wheels. An optional Artic Grey color is also made available.
Inside, the Cayenne Turbo GT arrives with the next-generation Porsche Communication Management or PCM system. The interface is said to be easier to use while also incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT arrives in German showrooms in mid-September 2021 with the rest of the world to follow.
