For those who find the current 911 GT3 a little bit too loud, Porsche may have a solution for you: the 911 GT3 Touring—a much subtler choice that manages to retain every bit of the 911 GT3’s excitement and performance.
The most obvious difference is the omission of the fixed rear wing of the 911 GT3. Instead, an automatically extending rear spoiler generates downforce at high speeds while maintaining an understated appearance. The changes are capped off by a unique grille, high-gloss aluminum silver strips on the side windows, a fully-painted front fascia (the standard GT3 has lower black sections), and dark-tinted lower front lights.
The interior, which is unique to the GT3 Touring Package, includes extended leather upholstery in black. The front of the dashboard and the upper side sections of the door trim panels have special surface embossing, too.
Porsche also offers almost all the optional equipment for the 911 GT3 as standard in the 911 GT3 Touring. This includes active LED headlights, ceramic composite brakes, a smart front axle lift system, and a Bose Surround Sound system.
Additionally, buying the 911 GT3 Touring unlocks the possibility of owning a special watch made by Porsche Design.
Mechanically, the 911 GT3 Touring is unchanged. It carries the motorsports-derived 4.0-liter flat-6 making 510 horsepower mated to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch.
The name “Touring Package” goes back to an equipment variant of the 911 Carrera RS from model year 1973. From the onset, the focus with this package was on pure 911 design and elements of a classic interior. Porsche revived the idea again in 2017, and for the first time again offered a Touring Package for the previous generation of the 911 GT3, the Type 991.
