This Toyota Corolla Altis Took On A 24-Hour Endurance Race And Won (Its Class, At Least)

The Toyota Corolla Altis proved its reliability and durability as it finished top of its class at the ADAC Total 24 Hours of Nurburgring.

The only ASEAN-based team in attendance, the Corolla Altis GR Sport used at the endurance race was tuned by Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand. Using Motul’s top-of-the-line 300V, Car #120 and #119 scored a double podium in the SP3 class, finishing first and third respectively (P73 and P87 overall). Another Toyota, a Toyota 86 (which is of course, powered by a Subaru engine) placed second.

The Toyota Thailand team first took place in the 24-hour endurance event in 2014, and quickly rose to the top of their class in just seven years. Recognizing the performance enhancement and dependability that Motul products promise, they chose Motul as the lubricant partner since the very beginning of their Nurburgring journey. They used off-the-shelf 300V in 0W40 spec for the race cars as well as Motul Gear Competition 7W-140, Motul Racing Brake Fluid 660 Factory Line, Motul Brake Clean, and Motul MoCool coolant.

Conditions at the Nurburgring were treacherous with heavy downpour and fog dominating the race. Low visibility and torrential showers caused multiple crashes, forcing race officials to suspend the race after 6 hours. Following a 14-hour intermission, the longest in Nurburgring history, the #120 car restarted the race from P1 and maintained this advantage right to the checkered flag.

2021 is a special year for Motul, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the 300V. Even after half a century, the product maintains its status as the leading synthetic lubricant as a result of the unique Ester Core technology.
