In a response to the evolving consumer preferences and tastes of Filipinos, Volvo Philippines is making changes to the XC40 line-up for 2021.
This year, Volvo is dropping the entry-level diesel-fed D3 Momentum from its compact SUV line-up, and in its place is the 2021 T3 R-Design. To celebrate, they’re offering it with a P 2.990 million introductory price offer this month.
The XC40 T3 R-Design is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine with 163 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic, the front-wheel drive compact SUV reaches the 100 km/h mark in 9.6 seconds, and an electronically limited top speed of 200 km/h. Thanks to an idle start/stop system, it can reach 15.38 km/L in terms of economy.
Despite the P 905,000 savings over the top-of-the-line T5 R-Design, the differences in specs are minimal. Both the T3 and the T5 feature the head-turning R-Design package down to the 19-inch alloy wheels (the T3 gets thinner sidewalls though—235/50R19 versus the T5’s 235/55R19). The T3 also has the same leather/nubuck seats with power adjustment for the front passengers, the 9-inch infotainment system, and even wireless phone charging.
Having said that, the T3 R-Design loses the T5 R-Design’s blind spot monitoring system, automated parking system, auto-dimming rearview mirror/side view mirror, and 13-speaker Harmon Kardon system (it gets the standard 8-speaker system instead).
