Did MG Philippines just preemptively pull the trigger on sharing official photos of the first-ever MG One? Set for a global debut on July 30, SAIC or MG hasn’t revealed any official pics of their all-new SUV except for shadowy ones. Well, that is, until MG Philippines posted this, and what a sight to behold.
The MG One takes on the brand’s new design language first seen in the refreshed MG 6 and all-new MG 5. With that, it has a long sloping hood, large blacked out grille with a waterfall pattern, and shapely headlights. The top-spec model is expected to gain a black roof and red brake calipers for that sporty touch. At the back, the bumper’s got a built-in diffuser and (sadly) fake exhaust pipes molded in.
The most important aspect for the MG One is that it’ll be the brand’s first truly global product produced in at least two locations: China and India. It will use a brand-new Sigma platform and will carry a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. The initial offering is said to be a boosted unit offering 178 horsepower mated to a 7-speed DCT, but other variants including a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) will follow.
The MG One measures in at 4,579 mm in length, 1,866 mm in width, and 1,601 mm in height. It sports a wheelbase of 2,670 mm, and with that, lands it squarely in the same territory (pardon the pun) as the Ford Territory. It’s also within striking distance of slightly larger compact SUVs as well.
MG hasn’t revealed how the MG One looks like on the inside, but it definitely offers seating for five. In addition, the brand promises that it’ll come equipped with a large touchscreen powered by MG’s i-Smart system as well as a host of semi-autonomous driving tech.
With MG Philippines posting the MG One on their social media page, it’s almost sure that they want a piece of that “small SUV” pie. If that is the case, expect the MG One to slot above the MG ZS. Do you think they can do it with this SUV? More information will be released during its global launch on July 30.
MG philippines should bring this aggressive Looking Crossover in the market. They are very slow updating it's unit. That's why other Chinese Carmakers are eating their share of the local market. Chery philippines vehicles are on the way up and Geely Philippines maintains it's lead in the Crossover competition.
ReplyDeleteMG Philippines should bring Hector Plus, a 7 seater Crossover / MPV that can compete with Chery Tiggo 8, Geely Okavango and Toyota Innova. Most filipinos preferred a 7 seater crossover / mpv, due to its hauling capacity and ground clearance.
ReplyDeleteMG already had its momentum in 2019 when it was first to launch attractive China cars with market leading prices. Now that Chery, Geely, Maxus, Ford (Territory), Chevy (Tracker)[owned by same company] is around, months ago it should already have new offerings to prevent the rest from gaining upper hand.
