Kia Philippines has updated its light-duty truck, the K2500 for the current model year. In fact, since September of last year (the announcement has just been made recently), all K2500 models have been upgraded with higher payload capacities and increased ground clearance.
Now officially known as the K2500 Plus, Kia’s light truck offering is still available in both single- and dual-cab configurations. However, thanks to an additional leaf spring in its rear suspension, it now boasts of a 1,235-kilogram payload capacity (up 400 kilograms from the previous models’ 835 kilograms). Moreover, ground clearance is up to 245 mm from 200 mm.
In terms of engine, all models of the K2500 continue to be powered by a 2.5-liter common rail direct injection diesel with 130 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. The gearbox is still a 6-speed manual.
The 2021 Kia K2500 Plus comes in 6 variants all in all including a Protect variant which add standard 1.5 mm PVC dividers in the rear passenger compartment. Required by the DOTr and LTFRB in public utility vehicles and company shuttles, these can be removed when not needed, or when a more thorough cleaning of the unit is required.
