NCR Shifts Back To Strictest Quarantine From August 6 to 20, 2021

The National Capital Region will be placed under the strictest of four lockdown levels—the Enhanced Community Quarantine or ECQ from August 6 to 20. This was confirmed by Malacañang at a press briefing.

In the meantime, Metro Manila will be under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with Heighted and “Additional” Restrictions until August 5. Among the additional restrictions imposed by Malacañang starting Saturday, July 31 include:
  • Prohibiting indoor and alfresco dining. Only take-out and delivery will be allowed.
  • Personal care services are allowed only to operate at 30 percent capacity
  • Only APORs are allowed to travel out of NCR Plus
  • Indoor sports venues and indoor tourist attractions are closed
  • Outdoor tourist attractions can only operate at 30 percent capacity
  • Physical religious gathering is now allowed
  • Wakes, funerals, necrological services allowed only for immediate family members
  • Public transportation is allowed
The decision to imposed ECQ is due to the increasing number of cases linked to the Delta variant of COVID-19—a more contagious form of the virus which has caused a surge of cases in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, the Metro Manila mayors backed the ECQ proposal provided that the national government can provide cash assistance and at least 4 million COVID-19 vaccine shots.
