Nissan is set to add yet another all-electric vehicle to its line-up very soon, and this time they’ll be leveraging their alliance with Renault to do it.
Teased as part of their ambitious £1 billion electric vehicle manufacturing hub in the UK, the EV36Zero, the all-new EV will have, according to the Japanese carmaker, “next-generation vehicle styling, efficiency, and battery technology.” To do so, they will be using the Alliance CMF-EV platform or Common Module Family-EV platform.
The Ariya, Nissan’s first all-electric SUV also rides on the very same platform.
The all-new EV is designed for global markets and will be exported to European markets initially. Nissan will release more details about the new vehicle including its price and technology closer to its launch.
Nissan’s EV36Zero manufacturing hub is a world’s first because it brings the entire EV manufacturing ecosystem in one place. Aside from assembly of the planned EV, the plant located in Sunderland in the UK will also house a battery manufacturing plant.
The manufacture of Nissan’s zero emissions vehicles in the EV36Zero will be carbon neutral with plans in place to put up as much as 10 solar farms. Together with wind energy, the carmaker expects to save 55,000 tons of CO2 annually.
