Planning To Buy An All-New 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser? You Might Be Told That You Can't Resell It

In line to buy the all-new 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series? Well, you might be in for a special condition for ownership. Toyota will be requiring you not to resell it within the first 12 months.

According to website Creative311 (via PaulTan.org), Toyota in Japan is handing out declarations to the 22,000 would-be Land Cruisers owners there that they cannot resell their SUV for export or resale purposes for a period of 12 months. The reason? Toyota doesn’t want its all-new LC to fall into the hand of terrorist groups.

While the move is certainly laudable, it’s impossible for any automaker to control indirect or even illegal channels through which vehicles such as the Land Cruiser could be resold or misappropriated. Heck, just look at the number of parallel imports of the LC300 coming from places such as the Middle East.

It’s unknown whether Toyota Motor Philippines will employ a similar tactic to Land Cruiser 300 owners, but in any case, the wait won’t be for long. Several websites have already pinned an October release date for the venerable SUV, with an aim to serve a group that might be just as bad as terrorists—corrupt politicians.

The all-new Land Cruiser 300 rides on the Toyota New Global Architecture TNGA GA-F and will use a 3.3-liter V6 diesel for the local market. It will also debut a new 10-speed automatic, and will feature Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System or E-KDSS to help keep tires in contact with the ground on rough terrain, and improve road-holding as well.

    1. Toyota dealers have been accepting reservations since last month. Some dealers already have 6 to 10 people in line.
