SsangYong is giving their Musso pickup truck a facelift for 2022 giving it a massive new grille that’s befitting its name which is Korean for Rhinoceros.
The only body-on-frame pickup truck from Korea, the 2022 Musso gets a revised schnoz with a chrome grille that now goes all the way down the bumper. Of course, this necessitated changes to the front bumper itself and with that, it gets new vertical LED front fog lamps. The rest of the exterior remains unchanged.
Inside, the 2022 Musso gets a choice of two interior colors—Black and Brown. The Black also comes with an option between a gray or black headliner. Choice of color palette aside, the gauges also get a feature first seen in their high-end Rexton SUV—the 7-inch Super-Vision Cluster display. Other features from the Rexton also find their way to the pickup truck such as the heated steering wheel, heated/ventilated seats, and an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Underneath, the 2022 Musso remains the same and with that comes with the same 2.2-liter diesel engine. Power depends on the transmission with the 6-speed manual getting 181 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, while the Aisin 6-speed automatic getting 187 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Four-wheel drive models also offer a low-range as well as a rear locking differential for optimal traction on challenging terrain.
The Musso also rides on a quad-frame structure that exceeds global standards for safety. It’s also made of 79.2 percent high-tensile strength steel in its construction. It also has 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control.
What do you think of the Musso’s new look?
Love the new Ssangyong Musso 4x4. Especially the large front grill. I will need a good 4wd in the philippines and really hoping they arrive there next year.
