After teasing it in what seemed like forever (it was announced last November 2020 actually), Coventry Motors Philippines, the sole distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines announces the arrival of the Land Rover Defender 90.
Powered by a state-of-the-art twin-turbocharged diesel engine and mated to an 8-speed automatic, the 2.0-liter D240 engine makes, as you guessed it, 240 horsepower at 4,000 rpm, while torque is at 430 Nm from 1,400 to 3,750 rpm.
Considered the most capable Land Rover ever made, it has independent suspension all around with adaptive dynamics not just for refined comfort, but for extraordinary all-terrain capabilities as well.
The new body architecture provides ground clearance of 226mm, and a maximum wading depth of 850mm. It is supported by a new Wade sensing system, which ensures drivers can cross deep water with complete confidence.
On dry land, Land Rover’s advanced ClearSight Ground View technology helps drivers take full advantage of Defender’s all-conquering capability by showing the area usually hidden by the hood, directly ahead of the front wheels, on the central touchscreen.
The Defender 90 is as technologically advanced as it is durable. Land Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment comes with a 10-inch touchscreen display, intuitively designed to require fewer inputs to frequently used tasks.
As always, Land Rover prides in personalization for the all-new Defender, and with that, it comes in four Accessory Packs: Urban, Country, Adventure, and Explorer. The packs contain the following features (see below for the basic specs):
- Urban Pack includes bright metal pedals, a bright rear scuff plate, front undershield, and spare wheel cover
- Country Pack includes wheel arch protection, bright rear scuff plate, front and rear classic mud flaps, portable rinse system, full height loadspace partition, spare wheel cover
- Adventure Pack includes: integrated air compressor, side-mounted gear carrier, front and rear mud flaps, bright rear scuff plate, portable rinse system, seat backpack, spare wheel cover
- Explorer Pack includes: wheel arch protection, side-mounted gear carrier, front and rear mud flaps, matte black bonnet decal, raised air intake, expedition roof rack, step ladder, spare wheel cover
Defender 90 units may be viewed, and test driven at All British Cars showrooms along EDSA Greenhills and at BGC Boutique Showroom in 5th Ave. cor. 24th Street.
