You'll Soon Be Able To Buy An All-Electric GT40

Everrati made news by offering an electric vehicle (EV) conversion for the 1991 Porsche 911 964. Now, they’re at it again, but this time, concentrating on something much older: the legendary Ford GT40.

The racing car that famously won the 24 Hours of Le Mans will soon be offered with an all-electric drivetrain after Everrati formed a partnership with Superformance, a manufacturer of 1960s-era continuation sportscars (aka replicas).

Superformance currently holds licenses to build 1960s-era sportscars such as the Chevrolet Corvette Mk I, Shelby Cobra, and of course, the GT40. The company sells them as rolling chassis, and then owners can specify if they want to use heritage or modern drivetrains.

With this tie-up, enthusiasts will now be able to drive an electric-powered GT40.

Everrati and Superformance says development of the first model already underway. A prototype chassis has been built and is being comprehensively adapted from ICE power to EV power.

Despite the move to all-electric power, Everrati says attention to detail is being applied to key factors such as battery location and weight distribution to maintain and enhance the character and soul of the original.

Further details on this first new model from the partnership and reimagined icon will be announced in the coming months.
