Right after updating its sub-compact Coolray, Geely is now doing the same with its compact SUV offering, the Azkarra.
Debuting in China where it’s known as the Boyue Pro, the 2022 Azkarra gains the new corporate face dubbed “Energy Storm.” This design philosophy was first shown in the Vision Starburst Concept. Subsequently, it made its way to the all-new fourth-generation Emgrand and the refreshed Coolray.
For the Azkarra, the update results in a heavily revised front-end with a completely new bumper that’s sort of a mix between Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield and Lexus’s Spindle Grille.
The 2022 update also brings with it a sportier new variant called the X. This adds orange accents (including the brake calipers) as well as black roof rails and 19-inch wheels.
Inside, the 2022 Azkarra appears almost untouched, design-wise, but they’re adding a rather cool two-tone blue-and-white color scheme.
Tech-wise though, the Azkarra does get some under-the-hood tweaks. That 12.3-inch infotainment system now boasts of a stronger processor—Geely’s E01—that improves overall performance and functionality. Higher-end variants also benefit from a Bose sound system.
Mechanically, the 2022 Azkarra remains unchanged. The base models get a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder with 174 horsepower and 255 Nm (shared with the Coolray) mated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic. Moving up, there’s the 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. Although unmentioned, export markets such as the Philippines will also likely get an unmodified mild-hybrid 1.5-liter as well.
There is still no news as to when the Philippines will get the updated Azkarra. However, Geely Philippines did promise to launch a new vehicle every six months or so in the coming few years, so it will just be a matter of time before this compact SUV reaches our shores.
...sana someday maglabas ang geely car model na walang moon/sun roof..
