Global chip shortage be damned. Isuzu Philippines Corporation is firing on all cylinders, and pushing to launch the all-new 2022 Isuzu mu-X by the end of this year.
The move, confirmed by a teaser post posted on their official website also opens the official inquiry page for anyone who’s interested in reserving or purchasing the brand-new 7-seater SUV.
Isuzu Philippines has yet to confirm how many variants and the specs of the all-new mu-X, but it is very likely that they will stick with their four-variant line-up consisting of three 4x2 and one 4x4 variant.
If that is the case, the top-trim 4x2 and sole 4x4 variant will set to benefit from the brand-new 4JJ3-TCX engine. Also found in the all-new D-MAX, it generates 190 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. Meanwhile, lower-end variants will stand to get a revised RZ4E-TC engine with 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic.
Built on a brand-new platform constructed exclusively of high-tensile steel, the mu-X offers increased stiffness, rigidity, and load-carrying capacities (towing capacity is rated at 3.5 tons). Along with the stiffer body, the new suspension with front independent double wishbones and rear five-link coil springs gives it improved handling and dynamics.
Standard across the mu-X range is a ground clearance of 235 mm and a water wading depth of up to 800 mm, while the sole 4x4 variant is expected to benefit from Isuzu’s Terrain Command system with both high and low range four-wheel drive, and even rear lockers.
Exterior features of the all-new mu-X include LED headlights and front fog lights, and wheel sizes ranging from 17 to 20 inches. Inside, it’s fitted with features such as a 4.2-inch color TFT display embedded in the instrument cluster, paddle shifters, a 9-inch touchscreen with ceiling mounted speakers (there are a total of 8 all around), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a 6-way power front passenger seat, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and much more.
The higher trims will also stand to benefit from Intelligent Driver Assist System (IDAS). Using a pair of Hitachi 3D stereo cameras, it gives the mu-X adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, alongside other safety technologies such as ABS with EBD, stability control, and 8 airbags.

Sir Ulysses, hopefully, all the safety features of the D Max will also be present in the Mu X 😊👍

It is.
DeleteI think the Nissan Terra also has updated safety features, but the MuX trumps it with an updated ASEAN NCAP rating - Mark J
