Toyota 86 Sportscar Now Included In Fuel Pump Recall

Toyota Motor Philippines announces a fourth batch of vehicles affected by faulty fuel pumps. This brings the total number of affected vehicles to 46,731.

The latest expansion covers the Toyota 86 sportscar produced from April 13, 2018 to October 31, 2018. A total of 32 vehicles are affected.

Like the previous four recalls, the issue surrounds fuel pump impellers that have low molecular density. After some time, these may swell causing the pump to stop operating altogether leading to an engine stall. In most cases though, the problem leads to rough engine running, engine not starting, and loss of power at low speeds.

Concerned customers will be invited to their Toyota Dealerships, and fuel pump will be replaced at no cost to customers.

At the same time, Toyota has reduced the number of Rush and Avanza models affected by the faulty fuel pumps. In their adjustment, only 18,063 Avanza and 17,860 Rush models are affected (from 18,245 and 18,484, respectively).
