Ford Transforms Its Mustang Mach-E Into A Police Car

Ford’s all-electric Mach-E might have caught the imagination of both customers and marketing guys, but a new client has shown considerable interest: the police.

UK’s po-po has shown good enthusiasm for Ford’s all-electric SUV that they’ve either tested the new vehicle, or requested a specially-built concept car. This prototype was built based on those requirements.

The demonstrator is based on the Mustang Mach-E Standard Range AWD, but Ford is also planning to offer its Extended Range RWD and AWD versions as well.

The issue of where the power to operate the concept car’s blue lights, sirens, and other high-tech equipment would come from, has been addressed by technicians. They’ve clarified that power will be drawn from the 12-volt battery, and not the drive battery. With that, the added equipment won’t affect the Mustang Mach-E’s close to 610-kilometer range. However, Ford will look into possibly increasing battery capacity to allow for even more equipment to be fitted.

Aside from being a great choice for the increasingly environmentally-conscious, the Mustang Mach-E remains a perfect weapon against crime. It’s hard to beat its 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 178 km/h. Moreover, because it operates in near-silence, it’s great for stakeouts too!
