Rolls-Royce showed off their first fully electric car—the Spectre. Currently in its development phase, the carmaker showed it off in camouflage. It’s set to arrive to market by the fourth quarter of 2023.
The Spectre will continue to use Rolls-Royce’s proprietary scalable and flexible spaceframe. It was first used in the Phantom in 2017, and also underpins the Cullinan and Ghost as well.
Yet, Rolls-Royce will not be taking shortcuts. The Spectre will undergo a demanding testing program covering about 2.5 million kilometers—a simulation of more than 400 years of use. It will also travel around the world and will be driven over all sorts of terrain.
After the Spectre, Rolls-Royce will continue to electrify their entire line-up. The goal is that by 2030, the brand will no longer have any internal combustion engine offering.
