All-New 2022 Range Rover Levels Up On Comfort, Sophistication

For over 50 years, the Range Rover has been setting the example when it comes to luxury SUVs, blending comfort, composure, and all-terrain capability. The all-new version, due out next year, is set to redefine the segment further by elevating its design coupled with technological sophistication and connectivity.

At the heart of the all-new Range Rover is a brand-new platform: the Modular Longitudinal Architecture. The MLA-Flex enables two wheelbase lengths and a choice of four, five, or seven seats. In a first, customers can, for example, select a five-seater configuration with the long wheelbase. The new platform is then connected to all around independent suspension with the rear getting the model’s first-ever five-link setup.

Further improving the 2022 Range Rover’s agility and comfort, engineers have integrated all-wheel steering. The rear wheels also turn up to seven degrees giving it a turning radius of less than 5.5 meters—smaller than even some compact SUVs and sedans. It also has fully independent suspension with twin-valve air valves.

Powering the Range Rover is a family of six- and eight-cylinder engines fed with gasoline or diesel. Joining the line-up are mild (MHEV) and extended range plug-ins (PHEV) powertrains. The most powerful version is set to be the P530 Twin Turbo V8 which launches the luxury SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The new luxury SUV also eschews its permanent four-wheel drive system for an all-wheel drive one. At highway speeds, the system decouples the front wheels via the transmission to improve fuel economy. A pure electric version will join the family in 2024.

Inside, the all-new Range Rover offers the model’s largest-ever touchscreen at 13.1 inches. The curved, floating screen provides control with haptic feedback of all the major vehicle functions. The Pivo Pro-based system works in conjunction with the 13.7-inch interactive driver display. Meanwhile, the rear seats can also enjoy the rear seat entertainment system with 11.4-inch HD touchscreens with HDMI inputs. Amazon Alexa is also built-in giving a seamless user experience thanks to natural voice command operation. It also works with the wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.

The Range Rover also has power assisted doors, an advanced air filtration system, active noise cancelation, and new leather-free option blended from Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat wool.

The all-new fifth-generation Range Rover has been designed, developed, and engineered in the UK and will be produced exclusively at Land Rover’s Solihull Manufacturing Facility—the historic home of Range Rover – on a new state-of-the-art production line. The investment at the plant will drive enhanced quality, with assembly of efficient mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and pure-electric examples of the new Range Rover on the same line.

Coventry Motors Corporation President, Chris Ward delightedly shares, “The new Range Rover is the most desirable Range Rover ever made and will continue to be the must-have luxury SUV globally. We are thrilled to bring in the new Range Rover into the Philippine market to serve our clients with the most sophisticated of taste. Another exciting development for Range Rover, a vehicle that represents ultimate luxury and class, as it advances into the future as a luxury EV by 2024. We will be able to share more information about this astonishing vehicle in the next coming days.”
