Despite the ongoing chip shortage, Chery Auto reports that its global sales figures reached 75,692 units last September—up 10.3 percent year on year. For the first 9 months of 2021, it has sold a total of 651,289 units—up 53.3 percent. This enables Chery to maintain its position as the fastest growing Chinese car brand.
Chery’s restructuring to prioritize export markets has helped grow them tremendously. For instance, they add an overseas customer every two minutes.
Both sales volume and market share in key markets have increased.
According to AEB (Association of European Businesses), Chery sold 3,488 vehicles in September in Russia, up 134 percent year on year; From January to September, 24,688 cars were sold, up 288 percent year on year. The Tiggo 7 Pro has become the best-selling SUV model of a Chinese brand there.
Meanwhile, in Brazil, Fenabrave (National Motor Vehicle Distribution Federation) released data showing that, in September, Chery ranked among the top 10 car sales for five consecutive months with 4,036 units sold, up 84.7 percent year on year. The cumulative sales from January to September were 27,839, up 120 percent year on year.
The story’s the same in Chile as well where Chery not only ranks as the best-selling Chinese brand, but ranks fifth overall with cumulative sales of 16,986 units in the first nine months of this year. Meanwhile, in the SUV segment, Chery sold 16,190 units from January to September, accounting for 12.8 percent of the market, and ranking first among all auto brands.
Closer to home, Chery Auto Philippines has registered a 280 percent sales growth year on year from January to August. This has fueled local distributor United Asia Automotive Group (UAAGI) to aggressively expand their dealer presence with plans in place to open in Pasay, Cebu, Subic, and Pangasinan.
All in all, Chery Auto has accumulated 9.7 million users worldwide, including 1.87 million overseas users.
