Lamborghini PH Announces Arrival Of Hardcore Huracán STO

About a year after its global unveil, Lamborghini Philippines announces the arrival of the Huracán STO—its most track-focused, barely street-legal version of its V10-powered Huracán supercar.

The Lamborghini Huracán STO, or Super Trofeo Omologato, is a road-homologated, rear-wheel drive super car powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine producing 640 horsepower and 565 Nm of torque. Coursed through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it rockets from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, to 200 km/h in 9.0 seconds, and to a top speed of 310 km/h.

To ensure an extremely sporty feel, the V10 engine has been calibrated to deliver a direct pedal-to-throttle response and a sharper sound at high revs. Gear changes have also been made quicker.

Reflecting its racecar inspiration, the new Lamborghini Huracán STO sports an entirely new exterior design in order to optimize airflow and reduce weight. Its hood, fenders and front bumper are comprised of one single component called, “cofango,” combining the Italian words “cofano” (hood) and “parafango” (fender). New air ducts on the hood increase the airflow through the central radiator to improve engine cooling as well as help generate downforce. The cofango also has a new front splitter that directs airflow to the newly designed underbody of the car and to the rear diffuser.

Found at the rear are new fenders derived from the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, a new hood that integrates a NACA air intake for the engine to improve cooling, and a prominent shark fin that helps to further stabilize the new Lamborghini Huracán STO when cornering. A manually adjustable rear wing allows the super sports car to adapt to different racetracks, driving styles and conditions.

The Lamborghini Huracán STO also benefits from lightweight technologies. It uses carbon fiber in more than 75 percent of its exterior panels, most of which are made as single pieces to make them stiffer and lighter. The carbon fiber rear fender is produced through a “sandwich” technique used in the aerospace industry. Also lightweight are the windscreen and magnesium rims, which weigh less than aluminum alloys. These technologies allow the new Lamborghini Huracán STO to weigh only 1,339 kilograms, 43 kilograms less than the already lightweight Huracán Performante.

To achieve all the emotions of a racecar while remaining comfortable on the road, the new Lamborghini Huracán STO has a wider wheel track, stiffer suspension bushing, specific anti-roll bars and Lamborghini’s MagneRide 2.0, an electromagnetic system that controls the suspension. Complementing these is Lamborghini’s rear-wheel steering system that has a more direct and fixed steering ratio. Combined, the components enhance the super sports car’s ability to corner faster by maximizing grip on exit.

Also motorsport-derived are the new Lamborghini Huracán STO’s Brembo CCM-R brakes that are more durable and which can resist heat four times higher than traditional CCB systems. With Brembo CCM-R, maximum brake power improves by 25 percent, perfect for track use.

Like the exterior panels, the interior of the new Lamborghini Huracán STO uses plenty of carbon fiber. Chief among the carbon fiber items are the sport seats, Alcantara pieces covered with Lamborghini’s Carbonskin floor mats (which take the place of carpets) and door panels. A rear arch with four-point seatbelts and a storage bin for a helmet inside the newly designed front trunk underline the new Lamborghini Huracán STO’s racing DNA.
