MINI Asia and British United Automobiles, Inc. announces the arrival of the 2022 MINI Collection. Consisting of the MINI 3-Door, 5-Door, and Convertible they continue to offer a fun-to-drive experience combined with expressive design and individual style.
“Today, MINI is kicking things up a notch in the Philippines with its biggest launch to date. With the new variants, there is a MINI for everyone,” said Mr. Willy Q. Tee Ten, President of the Autohub Group. “These cars are premium, urban, and thrillingly playful. No matter which version you choose, you will see a great leap in modern design, technology and pure MINI-ness while staying true to its iconic, classic go-kart design.”
All 2022 MINI models carry the revised exterior design highlighted by its larger radiator grille. Flanking it are new LED headlights with black inner housing. The headlights themselves are smarter—integrating a “bad weather mode” which activate cornering lights for better road illumination. The previous front fog lamps have been replaced by vertical air inlets for better aerodynamics as well. At the back, the rear lamps feature the Union Jack design, while the central bumper strip, which also functions as a number plate holder, is now in body color rather than black. A Piano Black exterior option (standard on the Cooper S) swaps out the chrome for high-gloss black on the MINI logos, grille, and tailpipes.
This year, three new colors join the line-up—Rooftop Gray Metallic, Island Blue Metallic, and Zesty Yellow. Meanwhile, the wheel choices have been revamped too. Five variants are available all-in-all including Tentacle Spoke, Scissor Spoke (previously available only in the Sidewalk Edition), Pedal Spoke, Pulse Spoke, and Circuit Spoke.
Inside, the 2022 MINI has its number of chrome elements reduced. They have since been replaced by high-gloss piano black accents. A Nappa leather steering wheel is fitted as standard across the range, while in front of the driver sits a new 5-inch digital instrument cluster. At the center is a revised 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen display with less buttons than before. It’s also made to appear more flushed with the interior surface. The infotainment’s OS is also new allowing drivers to customize “widgets” while also giving them a choice of two color schemes—Lounge and Sport.
Powering the 2022 MINI Collection is MINI’s TwinPower Turbo engine. The Cooper models are powered by a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder unit with 136 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, while the Cooper S dons a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 192 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. All variants come with a 7-speed dual clutch automatic as standard.
For the first time ever, British United Automobiles is making the Driver Assistant package available for all versions of the 2022 MINI. This adds collision warning and pedestrian warning systems with city braking function; lane departure warning; and Driving Assistant package with Park Distance Control with rear sensors and reverse camera.
