This Is Your Clearest Look Yet At The All-New 2022 Ford Ranger

After two teases—one being driven in the Australian Outback, and another highlighting its sophisticated camo—we get our best look yet of the all-new 2022 Ford Ranger.

Snapped being tested in Thailand, the all-new Ranger looks to gain styling cues currently seen in the F-150 and Maverick pickup trucks. The highly-sculpted grille and headlights look very F-150, while the rounded shape of the headlights seem to be more Maverick. Overall, it does lend a boxier, wider, and generally more truck-like shape to the current Ranger.

Ford has already confirmed that the 2022 Ranger will ride on a brand-new platform. In this case, it’s the same one used by the ultra-capable Bronco SUV. Being available in both two- and four-wheel drive will be a given, but the previous teasers have also shown it sporting rear disc brakes. Furthermore, it could also go the same route as the Nissan Navara wherein it’ll be made available with a choice between rear leaf springs or coil springs.

As for powertrain, Ford has kept quiet on this. However, the safe bet is that the current single- and bi-turbo 2.0-liter diesel engines will be retained. Higher-end variants will also benefit from a 3.0-liter Powerstroke V6 diesel too. If this powertrain’s familiar, it’s the same one found in the diesel F-150 expected to arrive locally soon. If that is the case, expect it to get about 250 horsepower and 595 Nm of torque.

The all-new Ford Ranger will debut before the end of the year.

  1. Everest should take this design cue for their next update. The Aussie-designed old Everest looked boring right from the start.

    1. mehhh. everything looks boring when innovation on certain car models is delayed/hampered, or worse, disregarded.

    2. Although removed due to unpracticality, I wish the next gen Everest had its rear spare tire mounted on the back of the vehicle (just an option for customers, perhaps). I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I find SUVs more appealing with their rear spare tire located on the rear door.
