Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles is quietly opening the order books for the all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ.
Originally promised for a Q4 2021 release window, it looks like the second-generation sportscar will just about make it.
The second-generation Subaru BRZ was released globally in November of last year, and it retains its formula of providing an affordable sportscar of low curb weight and center of gravity.
The platform is carried over from the first-generation model, but engineers did manage to add 50 percent more torsional stiffness. It also uses aluminum extensively to keep its weight down. As for power, its normally-aspirated flat-4 has grown to 2.4-liters helping it push out 231 horsepower (well, PS if we’re being strict about things) and 250 Nm of torque.
Inside, it adds a lot more tech such as a 7-inch digital dashboard and an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Motor Image Pilipinas has yet to reveal the exact local specifications of the all-new Subaru BRZ (the page shows one single photo which also serves as this story’s lead photo), but sources say the all-new sportscar will retail for P 2,399,000 for the MT and P 2,499,000 for the AT (update: these figures now appear on the website’s price list as well).
If these figures are correct, they are a hefty (P 241,000 to P 341,000) increase from the current model’s SRP. However, aside from more power, the local spec Subaru BRZ will also gain a hefty increase in standard spec to match that huge price jump. The automatic variant will also debut the Subaru EyeSight driver assist system as well.
Too expensive for what it is.
ReplyDeleteTaxes + higher specs most likely.
DeleteSo that means for 2.4M pesos your choices are either a MT BRZ or a MT MX-5 RF.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious on how Toyota will price the 86 when it comes to our shores.
Can it now outrun the MX-5 and Civic RS? The previous one couldn't. All show, no go. Needs 200K+ of mods to be competitive on the track.
ReplyDeleteMom mobile ricer lamer troll says what now? Only idi0ts like you would miss the rhetoric behind that post. Imagine seriously suggesting spyware sites as resources. Lulz.
