Japan's 10 Best Cars For 2021-2022 Announced

After announcing the 29 nominees for its 2021-2022 Japan Car of the Year, the 60-member judging panel whetted them out, and announced the final ten cars.

The jurors, made up of car critics, journalists (both motoring and otherwise), and other experts cut the initial list. Out of Japan’s “10 Best Cars,” Toyota has three, while Honda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan one each.

The finalists, in alphabetical order are:
  • BMW 4 Series / M4
  • Chevrolet Corvette
  • Honda Vezel (aka HR-V)
  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class
  • Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
  • Nissan Note / Note Aura / Aura NISMO / Aura Crossover
  • Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ
  • Toyota Land Cruiser 300
  • Toyota Mirai
  • Volkswagen Golf
While the Japan Car of the Year jury is keeping its voting a closely guarded secret, the Nissan Note is considered a strong front runner. The hybrid-only hatchback already bagged the Automotive Researchers & Journalists Conference (RJC) Car of the Year for 2022.

The 2021-2022 Japan Car of the Year will be announced on December 10.
