Palisade SUV Returns To Hyundai Philippines Line-Up For P 3.24M (w/ Specs)

In 2019, at the Manila International Auto Show (yeah, we still had physical motor shows then), Hyundai Philippines made a big splash with the arrival of the Palisade SUV. The large SUV, meant to slot above its then available Santa Fe (yeah, that was a thing too), was giving the Korean automaker something to fight against the likes of the Ford Explorer and Mazda CX-9.

Since then, Hyundai Philippines’ interest in competing in that marketspace ebbed and quietly disappeared from their official price lists. That is, until now.

Spurred perhaps by the renewed interest in the segment, following the arrival of the Subaru Evoltis, and to some degree, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, Hyundai Philippines has brought back the Palisade for the same price of P 3.24 million.

For 2022, the Philippine market Palisade continues with a 2.2-liter common rail direct injected diesel engine making 200 horsepower at 3,800 rpm and 441 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,750 rpm. It also retains the 8-speed automatic mated to Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drive with multi-terrain control.

Feature set is the same to the model first announced two years ago (see details below), but highlights include full LED head- and taillights, 20-inch alloy wheels, a self-leveling rear suspension system, quilted Nappa leather seats, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, wireless charger, and more.

Aside from a couple of social media posts, the revival of the Palisade has been decidedly lowkey for Hyundai Philippines. But, it does point to a resurgence of sorts which will bring four all-new models—the facelifted Kona and Santa Fe as well as the all-new Tucson and Staria—into the country very soon.

  1. This absolutely overpriced, under-specced, underwhelming unibody SUV made Mazda CX-9 a better choice.

  2. Why does it seem like Hyundai is the #1 supplier of repo cars?
