After announcing their intention to bring in the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT, another all-electric vehicle is joining the Audi Philippine line-up: the e-tron SUV. All three are slated to arrive at local showrooms by January 2022.
Accompanying Audi’s “e-volution” — or its transformation into an electric mobility provider — in the Philippines are various initiatives that lay the groundwork for the wider local adoption of fully electric vehicles. Among these are the establishment of dedicated service facilities for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. Plus, Audi Philippines is partnering with stakeholders which promote ecologically conscientious practices, and which also advocate for sustainability as the new luxury.
The Audi e-tron SUV offers the space, comfort and utility of a full-size sport-utility vehicle, providing ample space for five people and their luggage, while at the same time exemplifying the driving experience of a new era. Two electric motors outputting 408 horsepower and 664 Nm drive the electric SUV, free of emissions and in near silence. The electric all-wheel drive quattro system guarantees superlative traction and handling on any terrain and in any weather condition by continuously distributing power between the two axles.
With a fully charged battery, the Audi e-tron SUV can travel more than 400 kilometers (according to WLTP standards), thanks partly to an innovative energy recuperation system. The electric SUV can recover energy when it is coasting and when the brake pedal is depressed.
Audi in 2021 doubled its product portfolio of fully electric models as it accelerates its transition toward becoming a provider of networked and sustainable premium mobility. This means that Audi has launched more electric models than conventional cars on the market this year. The company has also increased spending in future vehicle projects and has earmarked sizeable investments for electrification and hybridization, emphasizing its clear commitment to electromobility.
By 2025, Audi aims to have more than 20 fully electric and 10 partially electric models in its lineup. Starting in 2026, Audi will only launch new models that are fully electric. The company will gradually phase out production of its internal combustion engines by 2033, and from then on all Audi models will be purely electric.
